JKL DPRM-4 Machined Rotary Distributor with Integrated Automatic Sampler

Integrated system for slurry homogenization, controlled flow distribution, and synchronized automatic sampling, featuring independent flow regulation and programmable increment extraction for abrasive mineral slurries.

Main Applications: Flotation and cyclone feed distribution, tailings and hydraulic backfill systems, final concentrate metallurgical control, integration with online analyzers, and metallurgical accounting systems.

1. General Description

The JKL DPRM-4 is an integrated rotary pulp distribution system incorporating an automatic sampling module, specifically engineered for continuous operation in concentrator plants, tailings systems, hydraulic backfill circuits, and flotation processes where the following are required:

  • Homogenization of abrasive mineral slurry
  • Controlled distribution of flow to multiple process lines
  • Automatic extraction of representative samples under controlled conditions

The equipment combines the operating principle of an Extra-Heavy Duty machined rotary distributor box, similar to the JKL DP series developed for high-capacity slurry handling, with a synchronized automatic sampling mechanism. This configuration allows direct integration with plant control systems and on-stream analyzers.

2. Operating Principle

The system performs three primary functions:

  a) Slurry Inlet and Homogenization

The slurry enters tangentially into the main housing, minimizing impact forces and localized turbulence.

An internally machined rotary distributor box ensures:

  • Uniform flow distribution
  • Reduction of density segregation effects
  • Hydraulic stability prior to distribution

  b) Controlled Flow Distribution

The main body incorporates regulated discharge ports equipped with machined adjustable darts (flow control plugs) actuated by:

  • Electromechanical screw jack systems
  • Three-phase gearmotors
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and encoder feedback (optional automated configuration).

This design ensures:

  • Independent flow rate control for each outlet
  • Dynamic balancing of parallel process lines (e.g., tailings / concentrate / backfill)
  • Remote operation via PLC or DCS platforms

  c) Integrated Automatic Sampling Module

The DPRM-4 incorporates a synchronized automatic sampling mechanism operating in coordination with distributor rotation. The sampling module:

  • Extracts representative increments at programmed intervals
  • Can operate on a time-based or volume-based sampling mode
  • Allows simultaneous collection of sample and duplicate (control) sample
  • Can be integrated with downstream sample preparation systems (e.g., rotary sample dividers, homogenizers)
